Why we made Vybemo
Vybemo is a new company with one product: an app where real people rate your outfit out of 10 and the number stays yours. This is the plain version of why it exists.
People already do this
Somebody gets dressed, likes what they see, takes a photo and posts it with one line: rate my outfit out of 10. It happens every day, all over the Indian internet. The wish behind it is a fair one. You put a fit together, you think it works, and you want to know whether other people agree.
What comes back is mixed. There is some useful advice. There are numbers thrown out with no thought. There are remarks about the person’s body that have nothing to do with the clothes. And then the inbox fills up with strangers who were never interested in the shirt.
Asking whether a fit is good should not cost anyone a bad week.
We wanted a place built for that one question, where people answer it and where some care is taken over what happens next. So we started building one.
What we chose to do differently
Each of these is explained in full on how it works and safety.
There is no shop on Vybemo
There is no store in the app. There are no buy links, no affiliate links and no sponsored fits. A post carries its brand because people always ask where something is from, and nobody earns a commission when you read it. A shopping bag in the app is a 24 hour post about something you bought. It has no price on it and no link.
A rating means something when nobody in the room is selling. Nobody on Vybemo is rating your fit to sell you a jacket.
Points follow the same rule. They record how well you read fits. They have no money value at all.
How is this different from the fashion social apps that came before?
India has had fashion social apps before, and it is a fair question. Those were feeds, and a feed needs income. The income came from affiliate links and shopping. Once the shopping arrived, the feed started working for the shop.
Vybemo is a game with a private score and no store. You open it because a 48 hour window is closing on your fit, or because it is Sunday and the crowns are coming out. Nothing in it is for sale.
Made in India, for how India dresses
A kurta with sneakers. A thrifted shirt bought from a student seller. A ₹999 find worn next to a designer label. A sari recut for a gig. None of that needs explaining here, and none of it is treated as a category.
Prices on this site are in rupees. The ten city guides were written by hand, one city at a time, and Lucknow and Jaipur sit beside Mumbai and Delhi. The weekly city battles exist because every Indian city is sure it dresses better than the next one.
Where things stand
Vybemo is a new company and the app has only just come out. You will not find user counts, press quotes or awards on this site, because there are none to show. When there is something true to report, it goes here.
